Scratch is located in a seating area adjacent to an off-leash dog run in a railroad-themed public park. The artwork serves several purposes: it welcomes visitors to the park, marks the dog run as a place of chaotic playfulness, and invites folks to sit, scratch, and take a break from the action.
The design of my sculpture and use of American Standard I-beams connect the piece with the history of the site and the design of the park, which incorporates a number of railroad artifacts.
